| ****THE PITCHER AND ME**** |
| 02.28.08 (1:18 pm) [edit] |
As a child growing up in a country dominated by the sport of hockey,I always felt somewhat out of place
when it came time for all of us local kids to play either ice hockey or street
hockey.First of all I was
perhaps the worst skater
you could have imagined to
ever set foot on a skating
rink or ice surface, and
secondly I have always had
a terrible hate of the cold
and winter in general.
Then came the day when I was invited to play in a
game of baseball and was asked to take over the role of pitcher for this team.My age at the time was
11 and why I mention this is because the group of boys I was playing with ranged in age from 14 to 17
and to be invited to play with them was a rarity.Well
as the game progressed it
became quite evident that
I was a natural for this game. Immediately after the
game I was formally asked
to join the "Angels" as their starting pitcher and well as they say the rest is history.
For the next 3 years I became the most dominant
as well as the youngest pitcher the league had ever
seen.By the time, my stint with the Angels was comp-
lete I had smashed every single record that existed up to that point. To this very day most of my pitching records still are
unmatched. Suffice to say
that as far as the sport of
hockey was in my opinion,
well it became permanently secondary to the sport of baseball and I never laced on another pair of skates
ever again.
Later as my "career" prog-
gressed I found myself
playing semi-pro ball all
over this continent and continued to excel as a
starting pitcher making a
mockery out of other teams
and their so called star-
sluggers from the west coast to the east. To this very day I still cannot bring myself to see hockey as nothing more than a bunch of bullies hammering a way on each other. To me personally, hockey is just another name for "assault-
ing" each other legally and
to me that requires little if any talent. At least baseball has a flow to it
and for the most part is
far less physically harmful
to players' bodies and finally baseball is far more scientific than hockey
because it requires far more skill and natural talent to excel in it as a sport.
Well there is no doubt that many people will dis-
agree with my appraisal of
these vastly different,yet
well known sports, but of course this is just one(1)
persons' opinion isn't it.

It's really great when you find you're niche, and discover one of your talents!! but...you also have other talents to I bet!!!
